Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau: 170 Km (L,d – Home stay)

 

Mai Chau Valley is one of the less touristy destinations in North Vietnam which quite close to the capital city of Hanoi. It’s about 150km or 3 hours drive by car on the highway No 6. Mai Chau is also the popular destination of Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert. Instead of taking a drive on the boring highway, we will ride together to Mai Chau on our own route to this valley crossing through many other rural villages to make the ride safer on the smaller roads and especially you can see what the hidden beauty of Vietnam is. The motorbike tour to Mai Chau ends at around 5:00 pm at the peaceful village of the Thai people whom we’ll stay with.

 

Day 2: Mai Chau – Moc Chau – Phu Yen: 150 Km ( B,L,D – Hotel stay)IMAG0706

 

It’s a short and enjoyable motorcycle ride up to North of Vietnam to Phu Yen. We can start the ride at round 9:30 am after a short walk around the peaceful villages of the Thai people to enjoy the daily life of the local people in the rural areas and learn more about the culture of the hill tribes in Vietnam.
Being back on the bikes then we keep motorcycle touring up Northern Vietnam to Moc Chau plateau. The motorbike ride from Mai Chau to Moc Chau is almost on the winding passes with beautiful view. Day 3: Phu Yen – Than Uyen: 220 Km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

Start the day at 7:30 with hot café and rice noodles for breakfast. After saying goodbye to the little town of Phu Yen, we continue the great Vietnam motorbike tour with a long ride to Mu Cang Chai and Phu Yen. It’s more than 200 km of mountain passes and back-roads cross through many villages of the H’mong, Dzao, Thai people and especially we will have chance to take pictures of the amazing rice terrace fields in Mu Chang Chai if you do the tour at the right time (from June to September). Today is one of the highlights of this motorbike tour in North Vietnam. We arrive Than Uyen at around 5:00 pm.

 

Day 4: Than Uyen – Sapa: 110 Km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)ride-ha-giang-vietnam

 

This motorbike tour to Sapa is the shortest day ride of the trip but it’s the highlight of this Northern Vietnam motorbike tour. We’ll ride through some very large green tea fields and cross the O Qui Ho pass – one of the longest passes in North Vietnam with amazing view of the Hong Lien mountain range where you can see the highest peak in Vietnam and in Indochina as well – the Fan-Xi-Pan peak with the height of more than 3140 m. Day 5: Sapa – Xin Man: 170 km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

After having breakfast and saying good bye to Sapa, we will enjoy one of the most beautiful offroad motorcycle tours in North Vietnam from Sapa to Xin Man. Right after leaving Sapa town we can make a turn on the small back-roads through some villages of the red Dzao and black H’mong people, if you do this Vietnam motorcycle tour from June to September you must have plenty of picturesque photos of the rice terrace fields nearby Sapa. If you come another time, you may not see the rice fields but still the great chance to experience the culture of the local colorful hill tribes. The first half of this motorbike ride to Ha Giang is almost on the bumpy, dirty tracks but offer a great chance to be closed to the local people by riding through the villages of the hill tribes. Day 7: Ha Giang – Meo Vac: 170 km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

Having no hesitance to say this is the best ride of the motorcycle tour in North Vietnam. The ride is along the Chinese border via the imposing Dong Van Rock Plateau on all the winding mountain passes offer amazing view of nature, especially riding motorbikes crossing the Ma-Pi-Leng pass – One of the longest and most beautiful passes in North Vietnam. It’s the land with rich culture and turbulent history, it’s also the second homeland of Ho Chi Minh where he spent most of the time to live and work before the Dien Bien Phu battle in 1954. The ride in the afternoon when we get closer to the Halong city is busier with traffic but we can enjoy a difference from the days before when we’re closer to the sea and riding on the coastlines. We’ll be in right center of Ha Long city at 4:30 pm. Stay in a hotel.

 

Day 12: Ha long Tour by Boat (B,L,D – Overnight on Boat)Halong bay

 

After breakfast, we’ll have few hours to discover the touristy city of Ha long before getting on the boat. We can have a walk around the city center to visit more markets for some shopping or take a short ride to another part of the city with nice coastal road to Tuan Chau Island. Be back to the tourist wharf by around 11:00 am to check in the boat then spend relaxing time on boat with fresh seafood, cold drinks, swimming or Kayaking… after a long motorbike ride around Northern mountain in Vietnam, this boat cruise is perfect to cheer up. Day 13: Halong City – Hanoi: 165 Km (B,L)

 

Getting up early to enjoy a peaceful morning on the bay or experience the Taichi on the rooftop of the boat. After breakfast, we’ll keep cruising around the beautiful Halong bay until 11:00 am when we get off the boat then continue the motorbike tour back to Hanoi. The ride back to Hanoi is quite busy but we have no choice, we’ll be back to Hanoi and end the great North Vietnam motorbike tour before 4:00 pm.

Day 1: Hanoi – Phu Yen: 165 km (L,D – Hotel Stay)

 

Depart from Hanoi at 8:30 am. We will get out of the city by the free way to the west of Hanoi, just one and half hour ride we will at the bank of the Da river, stop and put the bikes on the ferry to cross the river, After crossing the river we will be faraway from the hustle of the city, the ride from here is almost on the back-roads through some villages, rice and green tea fields. It’s completely enjoyable motorbike ride in North Vietnam. This short motorbike tour northern Vietnam is our favourite and it must be the highlight of the trip. We arrive Phu Yen town at 4:30 pm.

 

Day 2: Phu Yen – Mai Chau: 150 km (B,L,D – Home stay)

 

At 8:30 am having break fast with traditional Pho – rice noodles soup. Continue the motorcycle touring northern Vietnam to Mai Chau valley. It’s a short motorbike tour to Mai Chau but offers great view of mountains so you can have plenty of chances for taking photos. Right after the Phu Yen town, we will have beautiful ride along the winding Da river, the ride may remind you a motorcycle tour on coastlines in southern Vietnam. After crossing the river, we’ll motorcycle up and up, cross some high and nice mountain passes to head up to Moc Chau plateau where is famous for cool temperature and large green tea fields. Lunch is in Moc Chau town, after lunch we will make a turn to Hua Tat pass – it’s the old road built by the French that offers a great ride because of quiet traffic and beautiful view. After breakfast, we start the day with short but enjoyable ride through villages of Thai people and through beautiful rice fields, after the valley we will have great motorbike ride along the Ma river through bamboo forest between the green mountains. We will get to Ngoc Lac town at noon time when the lunch is served at the local restaurant. After lunch, just enjoy an easy and relaxing motorbike tour on Ho Chi Minh road to Tan Ky town.

 

Day 4: Tan Ky – Phong Nha – Ke Bang: 280 km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

Tan Ky is a little quiet town located on the sides of the Ho Chi Minh road, the town is surround by mountains and some rustic villages and known as the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh trail during the war time. From here the Northern communist with food and weapons travel down to the South Vietnam to join the war.
After simple breakfast in the local restaurant, we travel down to the South Vietnam with our motorbikes on the historical trail. The ride is almost on the repaired part of the trail but still offers a great view of mountain and the daily life of the local. The motorbike ride on Ho Chi Minh trail in the afternoon must be the highlight of the trip.

 

Day 5: Phong Nha – Khe Sanh: 220 km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

Today must be the best part of the Ho Chi Minh trail motorcycle tour! After departing from Phong Nha town, we will make a turn to join the western Ho Chi Minh trail; known as the hidden trail that the US army did never know and bomb. With the length of more than 200 km through the Phong Nha Ke Bang national park where the traffic is completely empty, this motorbike tour on the trail surely offers unforgettable experience. In the late afternoon when we get out of national park we will pay a interesting visit to Khe Sanh – the former important US Marine Base including US Air base, tunnels and new Khe Sanh museum. After breakfast, we will leave the Ho Chi Minh trail to ride along the historical road No 9 along the Dakrong river. The motorbike ride is straight to the eastern side of Vietnam along the 17th parallel where we can visit the Hien Luong bridge – a symbol for the border between the north Vietnam and south Vietnam, Vinh Moc tunnels and where you can have short motorbike ride on coastal roads which offers different view from the ride on Ho Chi Minh trail days before. We arrive Hue at 4:30 pm.

 

Day 7: Hue – Hoi An: 160 km (B,L,D – Hotel stay)

 

It’s beautiful Vietnam motorcycle tour on coastlines from Hue to Hoi An. After breakfast, get back to the bikes and ride to the coastal outskirt of Hue city, then enjoy the motorbike tour on the coastal roads down to Hoi An. Day 8: Discovering Hoi An. (B,L – Hotel stay)

 

Hoi An, an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Asian trading port, is an outstanding material manifestation of the fusion of cultures over time in an international maritime commercial centre. The town is a special example of a traditional trading port in South-East Asia which has been completely and assiduously preserved: it is the only town in Viet Nam that has survived intact in this way. Most of the buildings are in the traditional architectural style of the 19th and 20th centuries. They are aligned along narrow lanes of traditional type. They include many religious buildings, such as pagodas, temples, meeting houses, etc., which relate to the development of a port community. The traditional lifestyle, religion, customs and cooking have been preserved and many festivals still take place annually

 

After breakfast in the hotel, we will have short walking tour around the ancient town Hoi An to see some famous attraction in Hoi An such as: the Japanese bridge, Chinese temples, local markets and the traditional houses. In the afternoon you can have your free time at the beach or keep motorcycle touring Hoi An to some peaceful and green villages of the local people who plant the vegetable all year around.

 

Day 9: Hoi An – Kon Tum: 210 km (B,l,D – Hotel stay)

 

We continue the Ho Chi Minh trail motorbike tour but from Hoi An we will see the different part of the trail, the tour will take you to the central highlands Vietnam – a different Vietnam that make you feel worthy to come.
Start the Hoi An motorcycle tour to Kon Tun at around 8:30 a.m. The motorcycle ride today will show you the rural life of locals such as: incense making, basket making village, rice paper making,…and then head to My Son Hollyland where you can visit the ancient Cham Towers and learn more about history and culture of the Cham people. It’s not so long motorcycle ride on Ho Chi Minh trail today but it is another busy day with a lot of visits and stops therefore we start the day at about 8:00 am, Firstly we pay a visit to village of the Bana people and then keep motorbike riding to Pleiku where we can enjoy the scenic landscape and the natural lake calls “the Eyes of Pleiku” –the Sea Lake. Visit rubber plantation and some rustic villages of the hill tribes to learn how the local earn a living and experience their unique culture,…etc. We will finish the day at about 5:00 pm in Buon Me Thuat.

 

Day 11: Buon Me Thuot – Lak Lake: 100 km (B,L,D –Hotel stay)

 

It’s a relaxing Vietnam motorcycle tour to Lak lake. The ride is short but still offers a lot of interesting things to enjoy along the way. At first, we will enjoy an easy motorbike ride on the smooth road with beautiful green tea fields and the colorful hill tribes along the way. And then, we will motorcycle on Qui Ho pass (one of 4 longest, highest and most beautiful mountain passes in the north of Vietnam) to cross the Hoang Lien mountain range- the highest mountain range in Vietnam including Fanxipan peak with the height of 3142 meters above sea level. It’s sure that you will have a photo album of the most beautiful valley or mountain view in north Vietnam. We will be at Sa Pa at noon for lunch. After lunch, check in the room in Sapa town and have relaxing time in town with a short walk around the town, enjoy mountain view around or walk to the colorful market of the local hill tribes in town. Dinner is on your own, fell free to choose the local food or western one in any restaurants here.

 

Day 5: Motorcycle Tour around Sapa: 80 km (B,L,D – Home stay)

Start the day at around 9 AM when the sun comes and the fog runs away, Just follow the trekking tourist to to ride along the Muong Hoa valley, the long and beautiful valley in which 5 different colorful hill tribes located and built amazing terrace fields. This Sapa motorcycle ride is free and easy, just ride and stop anywhere to take pictures or try some offroad ride on the muddy roads that the tourists do trekking. We will finish riding in Ban Ho or Thanh Phu village where we do home stay. We can have short trek around the village after leaving the bikes with the family.

 

Day 6: Sapa – Luc Yen: 170 Km ( B,L,D – Home stay)

 

It’s a easy ride today, we will motorcycle down and down to Lao Cai where we can have look at China from the Vietnam and China border, after Lao Cai we will have motorcycle tour on the winding road to Luc Yen.

 

Day 7: Luc Yen – Thac Ba Lake: 80 Km (B,L,D – Home stay)

 

Another short Motorbike tour to Thac Ba lake but it must be another highlight of The motorcycle tour northern Vietnam. After simple breakfast with the family, saying good bye and motorcycle on the small countryside road through many rustic villages locating on mountain between the palm trees then keep riding on the Thac Ba lake bank to Vu Linh village – the village of the Dzao people located on the lake bank. Lunch is served by the friendly Dzao family. After lunch, we will spend all the time for boat tour on Thac Ba lake.

Day 8: Thac Ba lake – Hanoi: 180 Km (B,L)
Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert will do the best to avoid the main busy road for as long as possible. we will ride longer to get to road No2B which there is less traffics on. Then hit the road down to Red River Delta. Then get on the dike road from Viet Tri town to ride motorbike along the Red river back to Hanoi. We arrive Hanoi at around 4: 00 PM before rush hours and finish the 8 day enjoyable motorbike tour in north Vietnam safely!
